Yoga Minutes

Almost a month into my yoga teacher training (for the 200-hour certification), I'm happy to see that I'm embodying the lessons—albeit at a slow pace, which should be fine in the yoga world.

Case in point: Last night, as my husband was getting to bed, in my half-asleep state, I turned to him and said, "Twisting is good for digestion."

"What [are you talking about]?" he said.

"Oh, in yoga. The twists..."

And then off I went back to sleep :)

In class last night, we learned about some seated poses and twists: When you move your torso/upper body/shoulder in one direction, keeping your base grounded, that's supposed to engage your core and build "fire" to help with digestion. It's also not too different from wringing a wet towel to "freshen" it up.

  1. I also say some weird stuff in my half-sleep state, and my friends and I always have a laugh about it on slumber parties haha. I think it's because you have imbibed the lessons so much, a brainfart in the middle of sleep, if you may :)

I'm also thinking of taking up some yoga classes here but I have to save up first since they can be quite expensive. There are some tutorials available online but for my first time I prefer to have someone professional watch over me and see whether I'm doing it right.

In other unrelated news, I just want to tell you that I've quit my job in HSBC. I've been working for the social media arm of a PR company for two months now :) Pay's much lower than what I enjoyed before, but I'm really happy I took the leap. Thank you for your words of encouragement before :)

    1. Wow! Thanks, Krissy! CONGRATULATIONS on your big move to a new job! Social media sounds right up your alley. You're very welcome. I think I've told you this before but I'll say it again: My Papa once told me that one should take a job s/he loves, and then the money will follow :)
